The Scott McGilvray Children's Fund is a direct impact program, making a difference one child at a time.
Two Decades of Help.Created in 1996 by NEA–New Hampshire members, the Scott McGilvray Children’s Fund was founded as the New Hampshire Foundation for Teaching and Learning Children’s Fund with our mission focused on improving teaching, student learning and education for public school teachers and students across the state. In 2018 we changed our name in honor of Scott McGilvray, educator, president of NEA NH, and strong advocate for children.
The Fund has distributed over $150,000 in grants to provide basic needs to
SMCF works to provide public school students with items and services needed for school success that are not provided by other agencies. Things like glasses, clothing, medical care, transportation and school supplies, to name just a few of the ways SMCFL has stepped in with emergency stopgap measures for New Hampshire’s public school children. |
Real students. Real families. Real help. Our mailboxes are filled with cards, notes and letters from the children, families and schools whose lives were improved by grants and gifts from SMCF.
“Thank you for your generosity with helping our students. They are a resilient bunch, but they get down sometimes, especially when they worry about their parents, and getting evicted, and whether things are going to be okay. When they receive some warm clothes it gives them confidence and peace." “I just want to thank the wonderful people at SMCF so much for the tremendous gift we were able to provide to a family in desperate need. Your generosity allowed us to purchase so much clothing that I was truly sick of shopping! The support you offered has already made the teachers smile because the family received the clothes on Monday and on Tuesday the children were already wearing the outfits we purchased. It was wonderful to see!” You make it happen. The grant money the Fund uses comes from donations from people like you, and from fundraising events such as the annual Golf Tournament and Prize Calendar. The Children's Fund has awarded more than $150,000 in grants, and the need remains high. Would you please consider making a donation to change a student’s life?
